Shea Butter Origin
Also commonly known as Shea trees, the Karite trees indigenous to Africa go by many names, across many local languages. An important aspect of Ugandan agriculture, the slow-growing Shea tree produces a highly nutritious fruit known as Shea fruit or Shea nuts. Within this fruit are found the valuable Shea seeds — large and hardened, they contain the all-important fatty acids and vitamins that make Shea Butter so remarkably effective.
Conservation of the Shea tree is a crucial aspect of African farmers’ lives, especially in Uganda. By purchasing pure, authentic Shea Butter sourced in Africa, you help support the continued sustainability of the Shea tree and the many farmers dedicated to its preservation.
Black African Soap
Authentic African Black Soap in a Convenient, Luxurious Body Wash
Based on the same traditional African recipes that date back centuries, our Zuri Bloom African Black Soap Body Wash combines authentic ingredients and processes with a contemporary body wash experience.
Sourced and crafted in Uganda with 100% pure, natural ingredients including plantains, cocoa pods and palm kernels, our body wash undergoes a time-honored creative process used for generations.
Plantain skins, cocoa pods and palm kernels are set in the sun to dry before being burned, typically in clay ovens. The ash produced is rich in alkali, a necessary ingredient for the cooking process. In combination with water and specific oils, the mixture is hand-stirred for a full 24 hours, allowing it to solidify before the curing stage. Once cured, our soap is blended with distilled water and glycerin to transform it into our smooth, luxurious body wash.
African Black Soap is prized all over the world for more than just its wonderful cleansing properties. Its antimicrobial properties make it ideal for reducing acne and balancing the oils of the skin. And many find that it helps alleviate common skin conditions, like eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis, as well as razor bumps, certain skin rashes and other signs of irritated skin.
